Bart I haven't been here in awhile but you asked for anyone to share their terminology with the group So here I am giving you mine to put it where you think it should go. I warn you it is 36 pages of terms and it is set up as a adobe portfolio.

Oh, that sucks. I'd hate to miss a Symposium, like that but sometimes you have to.

I've not trained for more than a year. I've started stretching, though. I'll have to train at home because I couldn't find a partner to train with. Something is better than nothing!

Biography
I've been training in the martial arts since 1978, and currently train and teach under the legendary Shihan Donna Judge at the Suncoast Karate Dojo in Sarasota, Florida. One of the great things about training with a legend is being surrounded by other legends and legends to be.

I have previously trained in Shorin-ryu, Wado-ryu, and Matsubayashi Shorin-ryu. In addition to Shuri-ryu, I also train in jiu-jitsu (both Japanese and Brazilian), bagua-zhang, xing-yi quan, qigong, aikido, kali, kobudo and yoga.

During the day I practice law with my Father at Scovill & Scovill, PLC.

Gun control helped it in my eyes because He had a gun and the others didn't, They couldn't defend themselves.

Here again we speak of gun control - the guns WERE controlled on base. Military bases ARE gun free zones with the exception of the Military Police. AGAIN - the bad guy had the gun. The rule of no guns on base didn't deter him from bringing his gu...

Darren - Please elaborate. According to what I know, a Jo is 50-56" long while in contrast, a Hanbo is only 36" long. There is also the Yawara which is 12-14" long. So which one are you talking about? The terms are not interchangeable so I just wa...

I would have to say my Jo (Hanbo). We train with this weapon in grappling situations, close-quarters and at distance. It's also the first weapon I passed and therefore have the most experience with, and, as Mr. Scovill said, they are generally lyi...

I agree a shotgun would be my first choice in pure home defense, but I have children and that means any firearms are not readily accessible. Kobudo weapons on the other hand are lying around everywhere. Just ask my wife. So my weapon of choice is ...

I guess it's left open to interpretation. To me, the "gun problem," consists of all the restrictions that exist on lawful citizens owning them. These restrictions have been proven to have one effect on crime: by making it harder for law-abiding ci...

Well, that was your assumption, but if you're going to contend that there are no morons or knuckleheads in the world, Based on what you typed in the original comment about Wal-mart, I still think it was clearly an accurate assumption. Of course t...
