Not quite - although you are close. When used with a stance name it is called "dachi". When used without a stance name it is called "tachi". Tatsu is the Japanese verb meaning "to stand" Tachi - is the continuative form which means "stance". You m...

When used with a stance name, it is said だち(dachi) such as 騎馬立ち but if it's used alone without a stance name, it would be 構え(kamae)
Thanks to Jonathan (who obviously hasn't seen this yet), I'm going to sound smart on the first part of the question. Dashi is only used as a suffix, such as kiba dachi. When it stands alone, it's Tachi. As for the rest, you're going to have to wai...

"In the martial arts, the mental state should remain the same as normal. In ordinary circumstances as well as when practising martial arts, let there be no change in the state of mind - with the mind open and direct, neither tense nor unfocused, centring the thoughts so that there is no imbalance, calmly relax your mind, and savour this moment of peace" -Miyamoto Musashi "The Book of Five Rings" (1643)
