Biography
I recently began training in Karate. I began on December '07. I train in one of the ten locations of the Kempo Martial Arts Dojo. Our system is KaJuKenbo Karate and I train in the White Tiger style.

Kajukenbo is a hybrid martial art that combines western boxing, judo, jujutsu, kenpo karate, shotokan karate and kung fu. It was founded in 1947 in Oahu, Hawaii, at the Palama Settlement. The original purpose of the art was to deal with local crime, and to help the people defend themselves from U.S. Navy sailors who would drink and start fights. The founders were Sijo ("founder") Adriano Emperado, Peter Young Yil Choo, Joe Holck, Frank Ordonez, and George Chang (sometimes mistakenly referred to as Clarence Chang), who called themselves the Black Belt Society. The founders of Kajukenbo wanted to develop an art that would be readily useful on the street.

Kajukenbo uses hard, fast strikes to vital points throughout the body, takedowns involving high impact throws and many joint and limb destruction techniques--usually as follow-ups to takedowns. There are also many blocks from attacks such as punches and defenses and disarmament of offensive weapons. The name works in two ways: "ka" ("long life"), "ju" ("happiness"), "ken" ("fist"), "bo" ("style") or "ka" ("karate"), "ju" ("judo"/"jujutsu"), "ken" ("kenpo"), "bo" (Boxing and/or Chinese Boxing Kung Fu), leading to the art's philosophical meaning: "Through this fist style, one gains long life and happiness."

I enjoy every minute of my training. I never miss a class. I live at the Dojo. I guess that is the reason why I have achieved Brown Belt rank in such a short time. I enjoy competing in the Tournaments. I have already competed in three Tournaments.

I was born in El Salvador. Been living in NY since 1990. I love warm weather. Love the caribbean. I enjoy traveling. I enjoy watching Action Movies. When in not training, I spend my time watching reality TV or reading chick books. (probably the only chik thing I do..lol)

I would like to make new friends. Specially if we share the same passion..Martial Arts. We can get to learn a thing or two about each other. We get to share our experiences...

I'm good, thanks. I stink at those games, but I wanted to add a bit of fun to the website. My favorite is Ball Ninja.

What Drove me to join Karate

Many have asked me what made me join Karate…Well, nothing made me. It was something I have always wanted to do.

I remember as a kid I would watch dubbed Chinese movies. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. As I got older my fascination of Martial Arts increased. It wasn't just cool anymore. It was Amazing.

In my late teens I decided I wanted to be a part of that world. The problem was I never had the time or the money to join a school. One morning, I got up with the intention of joining a… Continue

What Karate means to me..

A lot of people see Martial Arts as a sport. Others see it as a way to beat up people and that is why they join. I see a bunch of kids in class that don't seem to take it seriously. It's either a game or the're just there because their parents make them go. They don't stretch the right way. They do the drills lazily. Even their material looks bad when they are practicing it. No emotion at all.

Anyway, I do take it seriously. I never saw Martial Arts as a sport to tell you the truth. Actually, I… Continue
