I'm a 48 year young Christian male. I operate heavy equipment for a living. I've studied Tang Soo Do, Sasaki Kenpo and Jeet Kune Do. I started in traditional karate when I was 22, training with my brother for 3 years until I was hit by a drunk driver in 1987. The injuries left me in constant pain. I had to put martial arts on the back burner. The injuries caused a condition which is called Spondylolisthesis. Spondylolisthesis is when there is a stress fracture in one of the bones (vertebrae) that make up the spinal column. This causes the vertebra to shift out of place. The slippage begins to compress the nerves and narrow the spinal canal. This in turn caused shooting pain down my left leg and low back. Working was a challenge. I started getting injections in my lower back in 2006 which helped to the point that I could get up and out and about again. This past August I join D.J. Studios karate. A member of the World Tang Soo Do Association. Tang Soo Do is strengthening my core muscles and helping to realign my spine again. So I'm back enjoying karate again and regaining my health.
My life partner Danae and I have been together going on three years but it feels like I've known her all of my life. She IS the love of my life! I have two children, one 28 yr. old boy and a 21 year old girl. I also have 2 beautiful step children who I love as my own.

Ouch, that sounds painful. I hope you have a speedy recovery!
My goals are:
- lose some weight and become more flexible (already seen improvement)
- follow a time-table and be consistent
- join a good Grappling school
