No, not necessarily. Although the longer string makes it easier to grab and reach around not to mention pick up the velocity to a certain degree on strikes, but in the end how much force do you really need. I would much prefer more control over ju...
I assume that the Nunchaku you are endorsing with the shortened manuchi would be used for sport only as that would render then unable to be used for grabbing and certain blocks that involve crossing the left and right side blocking with the manuchi?
You can still do it with the longer string, but the longer the string - the less control you have. It will be more choppy and also harder. But you can do it.
I started my training about 15 years ago with Sensei Melanie Dan and studied Shuri for a few years. Then later continued my training with Bill Slinker and Bill Marney concentrating on Yoshukai and Kickboxing. After working with Sensei Slinker and Marney who both retired from teaching, I went back to training with Sensei Melanie Dan and Sensei Hope.
Throughout the next several years I continued to expand my training with Joseph Ward, Erik Marshall, and recently Shihan Donna Judge trying to pick up little things that I lack.
I currently teach with Sensei Hope Stephenson in Bradenton and do mini sessions at other dojo's teaching chucks.
Aside from the martial arts I do web development work, and digital design work for starting and merging companies such as brochures, business cards, magazine covers, and so forth. I also do photography because i enjoy going to various sporting events, weddings, concerts, and so on.
Congratulations on your promotion! Nice to see bad things happen to bad people and good things happen to good people. You fit into the second category in case you're wondering....
